Florida house in a freshwater lake still seeking $19.7M

Real Estate

This floating mansion is arguably the definition of sunk cost real estate.

South of Miami, sandwiched between the Everglades and Biscayne National Park, the city of Homestead, Florida may be landlocked — but this house certainly isn’t.

Located on a man-made island in the middle of a freshwater lake, the 20,000-square-foot Château Artisan was built back in 2007 and sits upon a foundation carved into the coral rock.

Accessible both by sea and land (there’s a drawbridge), the megamansion homage to moated castles of yore is currently seeking a new owner.

The property, which has been longing for a deep-pocketed prince to sweep it off the market since July 2022, has not budged in its $19.7 million price during the eight months it’s sat in wait.

“Château Artisan is a masterpiece with immense attention to detail which cannot be duplicated today,” Renzo Rossato, who shares the listing with fellow EXP Realty agent Carlos Justo, told The Post. “World class architecture providing a lifestyle like no other.”

Despite the medieval gully situation (as well as a hedge maze on the grounds) the compound is actually specifically built in homage to — as its name suggests — a “modern French Château,” according to the listing.

Fans of symmetry are sure to swoon at the pleasing aerial the property makes — with the two landscaped, diamond-shaped islands on either side of the one holding up the main house, and its interconnected outbuildings and two gazebos.

Inside, highlights include “super yacht-like bedrooms,” multiple fireplaces, a double-stair foyer and a music room.

The property previously made headlines for being the secret site of former basketball star Dwyane Wade’s 2014 marriage to actress Gabrielle Union.

Architect Charles Sieger created the structure and has inhabited it with his wife for the past decade, according to the Robb Report.
