Kelly Klein drops $16M on tiny Hamptons cottage

Real Estate

A two-bedroom cottage in Sag Harbor that is just 600 square feet sold for an eye-boggling $15.9 million.

The buyer is the philanthropic photographer and potter Kelly Klein, ex-wife of designer Calvin Klein, who recently divulged to her Instagram followers that she is working on a new real estate project.

The talented artist/designer has a knack for it. She once sold a 30-acre horse farm to Madonna in the Hamptons for $9.6 million more than a decade ago. (It’s now part of the Queen of Pop’s 58-acre Bridgehampton estate.)

On Instagram, Klein wrote: “Love my new project! Bayside living! Can’t wait to show you when I’m done! #livingonthedockofthebay.”

It even appears as if she got a deal, as the property was first listed for $16.5 million.

So what did she get for $15.9 million?

The property sits on 1.69 acres with 250 feet of footage and a deep-water dock on coveted Sag Harbor Bay. The lot is approved for a 10,000-square-foot buildable home.

Listing broker David Cox, of Compass — who had a successful 30-year career producing TV commercials for brands you might have heard of, like Apple, before selling multimillion-dollar homes to celebs like Beyoncé and Jay-Z — declined to comment.

The broker was repped by Beth Felsen of Sotheby’s.
