Vanessa Carlton chops price of her incredible Soho loft

In her 2002 hit, singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton said she’d walk “A Thousand Miles” to see her love again.

Now you can walk in her shoes — or at least on her hardwood floors — for $15,500 a month because her Soho loft is up for rent. The full-floor home, at 182 Lafayette St., features two bedrooms and two bathrooms and was decorated by designer Sarah Samuel Sherman.

It listed in June for $17,000/month, but got a 9 percent price chop in mid-August as rents fall across the city and demand falls due to the coronavirus. Spanning 2,500 square feet, Carlton’s spread has classic downtown details like high ceilings, exposed brick and original iron columns.

There’s also a chef’s kitchen.

The six-story building between Grand and Broome streets dates to the early 20th century.

The rental deal includes furniture and Carlton’s piano — one was famously featured in the music video for “A Thousand Miles” — but the apartment can also be delivered empty.

The 40-year-old singer, who bought the unit for $1.82 million in 2004 and has rented it out to tenants on and off since the summer 2014, is spending more time in LA. That’s where her husband, John McCauley — Stevie Nicks officiated their wedding, by the way — and their young daughter are.

The listing broker is Lisa Garey of Compass.
