The grand finale of an era unfolds as the final vestige of the Rockefeller dynasty’s extensive property empire emerges on the market for a staggering $9 million.
Nestled within the opulent landscapes of Greenwich, this estate, encompassing 4.24 acres, embodies the legacy of an iconic family.
Representing the last remnant of a legacy that once spanned hundreds of acres, the property merges two parcels and features a resplendent five-bedroom Colonial-style residence.
BK Bates of Houlihan Lawrence, the agent behind the listing, unveiled this historic gem in late October.
“After being cherished through generations, this prewar estate stands as the ultimate culmination of the Rockefeller family’s Greenwich legacy,” Bates told Mansion Global in a statement.
“Poised on two parcels along a prestigious street within walking distance of town, this exquisite private oasis presents a truly rare opportunity for prospective buyers.”
The Rockefeller saga traces back to the turn of the 20th century when they lorded over approximately 500 acres in Greenwich. Recent chapters saw a fraction of this historical expanse changing hands.
Last year, a slice of about 80 acres exchanged ownership to billionaire Len Blavatnik for a cool $32 million.
Following suit, a roughly 54-acre parcel from the estate made headlines when listed for $21.5 million in November 2022.
Greenwich Academy, a renowned girls’ private school, secured a portion of this historic land for $18.35 million in August.
Records attribute the estate’s ownership to Ann Rockefeller Elliman, the daughter of Avery and Anna Rockefeller and the great-grandniece of the eminent industrialist John D. Rockefeller.
Her recent passing in June at the age of 96 marked the transition of the property. Representatives managing her estate chose not to comment on the current proceedings.
The cornerstone of the estate, the main house constructed in 1949 and renovated in 2022, boasts a classic layout.
A grand living room adorned with expansive windows, hardwood floors, and a corner fireplace stands as a testament to its timeless elegance.
A formal dining area seamlessly connects to the living space while an adjoining kitchen, complete with a family room and breakfast nook, graces the other side. Adding to its charm, the ground floor hosts a wood-clad library.
Ascending to the upper level reveals five bedroom suites, with one serving as an office adjacent to the main bedroom. A layout that includes two bathrooms and two walk-in closets contributes to the residence’s allure.
Beyond the confines of the house, the estate’s grounds beckon with an extensive lawn, mature trees, and a shimmering pool embraced by stone walls—an ode to the opulence that defined the Rockefeller lineage.
