Disgraced film executive Harvey Weinstein’s former Connecticut home has been demolished — and the land has listed for sale.
Weinstein, 71, purchased the first property, located at 26 Beachside Ave. in affluent Westport, for $4.24 million in 1994. He then bought the adjacent property, which he kept as an empty lot, at 28 Beachside Ave., six years later for $4 million.
At the height of his sexual assault scandal in 2017, Weinstein unloaded both properties for a combined $16 million in 2018.
The new owners, English commodities trader-turned-graphic designer Andrew Bentley and his wife, art historian Fiona Garland, are now selling both lots, which make up 5.6 acres, for a cool $21 million.
Bentley has long been acquiring properties on the street, owning five other homes in the upscale area.
“I’ve never met or seen Weinstein,” Bentley reportedly said of his former neighbor, who was known to spend weekends at his Westport home with his former wife Georgina Chapman and their two young children.
Although not his main residence, Weinstein held fundraisers for both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on the properties.
Initially, Bentley had possible plans to build a new home on one of the properties, but it appears the idea was later scrapped.
The Colonial mansion that later saw the wrecking ball occupied nearly 9,000 square feet and also came with a barn-style guest house. Features also included a pool surrounded by lively gardens.
Situated on one of Westport’s most expensive and exclusive streets, the land boasts prime waterfront views.
While the Miramax co-founder walked away with a hefty profit from his Connecticut sales, he took a plunging loss on his Hamptons estate.
He purchased that 9,000-square-foot waterfront manse on Gardiners Bay for $11.4 million in 2014, later selling it for $10 million — a $1.14 million loss, not taking renovations into account.
Weinstein was sentenced to 39 years in prison on multiple charges of rape and sexual assault, first in New York in 2020 and then again last year in California.
