Elton John buys treehouse-inspired Toronto penthouse

The Rocket Man is shooting for the tree line — or, at least, the top unit in a residence inspired by it.

Elton John, 75, has purchased one of the swankiest apartments in a new Canadian development called King Toronto.

The property won’t be finished until 2023 and currently only renderings are available of the lush, plant-filled space — but Sir Elton John and his Canadian husband, David Furnish, have already put an undisclosed sum toward one of six “Treehouses” — what the penthouse units in the development are being called, Jam Press reported.

Their new home measures 2,602 square feet and features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a private spa and sweeping views of the Toronto skyline. By the time they move in, a tree will have grown through the main atrium. The primary bedroom has an ensuite bath with both a basin tub and a rainfall shower, as well as a walk-in closet.

The spa is located on the apartment’s second floor, and has a steam room and a sauna. Every floor of the apartment has an ivy-covered private terrace.

The building as a whole has a multitude of amenities, including a “floating sanctuary” at the center of the enormous complex, a gym, a pool and a party room.

Press materials for the building, which is located on King Street West in a trendy area of Toronto’s downtown, compare the experience of being a resident there to living atop a mountain.

“The Penthouses at KING Toronto are your own sanctuary in the sky, they are the opportunity to come home to a mountaintop, with the world at your feet,” says the website. “While the Penthouses at KING Toronto are each one of a kind, each offer in their own way the core themes that have come to define a Westbank home: the deep integration of nature through the integration of trees, foliage and outdoor terraces, meaningful sustainability, a commitment to artistry and stunning, panoramic views of the city.”

John’s new treehouse home will serve as a home base for summer trips to Canada, according to Jam Press.
