Hamptons’ Sandcastle estate, known for celeb stays, sells for $31M

Real Estate

Sandcastle, one of the most well-known homes in the Hamptons, has finally sold for $31 million, Gimme has learned exclusively.

The buyer, we hear, is a Florida billionaire who plans on spending time there with his grandchildren.

The 15-bedroom, 17,000-square-foot home at 612 Halsey Lane in Bridgehampton was built by developer Joe Farrell

Over the years, the over-the-top mansion, which sits on 11½ acres, has housed celebs including Jay-Z and Beyoncé, as well as Justin Bieber. (Farrell had words for the Canadian musician: “Justin is the nicest boy,” he said. “He always says grace before breakfast and helped clear the table after dinner.”)

Not to mention, Bieber would play the piano for Farrell’s three children.

Farrell also held a fundraiser at the estate for then-President Donald Trump in the summer of 2019.

Sandcastle caused a stir when it first hit the market. It asked $50 million in 2018 and last asked $35 million.

Sandcastle comes with a large chef’s kitchen perfect for entertaining — and a 9,000-square-foot basement with a golf simulator, DJ booth and a half-pipe for skateboarders.

There’s also a gym, a spa, a steam room, a sauna and an indoor sunken jacuzzi. Outside there’s a pool, a hot tub, tennis court and half basketball court, a 4,000-square-foot guest house, a baseball field and an eight-car garage.

Farrell is moving into a new, modern home at 155 Surfside Drive, also in Bridgehampton. He paid $16.5 million for the property in December 2020 and then tore it down to build a modern beach house, Farrell said, adding that it is slated for completion in March 2022.

“I’m moving to the front row,” he said. “After building more than 400 homes in the Hamptons, I’ve finally made it to the ocean. This will be my final house in the Hamptons. It’s irreplaceable.”

Sandcastle was an open listing. Douglas Elliman’s Tal Alexander and Sara Goldfarb repped the buyer.
