Drew and Jonathan are in high demand, and fans are curious just how much they’ll need to shell out to get the Scott brothers into their homes for one of their stunning renovations. The bad news is that you can’t hire the Canadian twins privately. The good news is that there is a way to get your Property Brothers makeover, you just have to meet the criteria.
If you desperately want the Scott bros to redo your space, you’ll need to apply to appear on an upcoming season of Property Brothers via the HGTV website. Although they don’t necessarily charge a fee up front for their services, you will need to have at least $90,000 set aside for your renovation and design budget to be considered for the show, and don’t forget, you also have to buy a new home.
According to a January 2019 casting call, there are a few other requirements that potential Property Brothers participants must meet. You must …
“…be buying and renovating a ‘fixer-upper;’ be outgoing, energetic, opinionated, and fun, with unique stories to tell; need expert design and construction help; be able to make quick decisions in order to keep to tight timelines; be available for up to 7-10 days of filming (staggered over 7-8 weeks); be enthusiastic about working with Jonathan and his design team who have the know-how to help create your dream home; and be 21 years of age or older.”
That’s a tall order, but that’s not all! You’ll also need to be in a certain part of the country. In the January 2019 casting call, it was Las Vegas, for example. Additionally, the application requested information about the participant, their family, their occupation, what the relationship dynamic is like, and what their general experience is with home renovation, since participants will be expected to pitch in.
There are a lot of requirements, and it’s a lot of money, but The Spruce reports some good news: If you’re lucky enough to be chosen for the show, Property Brothers will handle the remodeling, design, and construction of your home, of course, and will also contribute financially towards the overall costs of the renovation. Sounds like a pretty good deal, right? The Spruce actually suggests contacting the producers directly, to show your enthusiasm, if you’re really desperate for HGTV to roll up.
Those without the sizable $90,000 required budget on hand can get a small taste of the Property Brothers experience via Casaza, a shopping platform created by the Scott brothers that they described to Vox as an “inspiration hub for people in the home space.” The selection of items for sale is curated by Drew and Jonathan, alongside a team of other designers. There are even whole looks which you can shop and, via the platform itself, hire designers to redo your own space. As Drew Scott told Vox,
“The biggest thing people ask us is how can they have Jonathan and me come to their house and help them with their home. But this is a way we can scale where a lot more people can get that inspiration. Casaza is taking the whole experience of what you see on our shows and bringing that to you.”
If you’re more interested in Jonathan’s and Drew’s oratory than you are their handiwork, you can hire them to do speaking events for the princely sum of $75,000. That’s the low end of the spectrum, they might charge up to $150,000, depending on the event, according to their talent agency profile listing.
