Jeffree Star Lists Barbie Pink Calabasas Starter Mansion

Real Estate

Are you currently shopping for a multimillion-dollar Calabasas home? Have you ever felt the deep and unsettling urge to live inside a Pepto-Bismol bottle, or perhaps a wad of chewing gum? Jeffree Star has just the place for you! Despite remaining wig-deep in unending dramatics that engulf the wacky world of social media stardom, the Lamborghini-driving YouTube superstar has somehow found time to list his Calabasas starter home.

Unfortunately for Star, he won’t be making any money on this place, which he’s previously referred to as his “Barbie dreamhouse.” The current listing price of nearly $3.6 million is a few hairs less than the $3.62 million he paid for the property four years ago, and that doesn’t factor in the cost of his many custom upgrades.

From outside, the property appears fairly ordinary, just another one of hundreds of Tuscan-style Calabasas McMansions. Inside, however, things veer towards sickly sweet with bubblegum-pink walls, pink curtains, and even two pink chandeliers in the kitchen. The staircase walls, for their part, are upholstered in a pink tufted leather that was “installed by several craftsmen,” according to Star.

Somewhat surprisingly, the current listing does not include photos — or even a single mention — of the property’s most notable feature, the custom bank vault that Star spent hundreds of thousands of dollars installing over a period of several months. That vault, featured in a mega-viral YouTube video, was home to Star’s world-class collection of designer luxury goods, including dozens of Hermés Birkin bags.

Beyond all the pink, the ex-Star mansion does offer the luxe amenities expected in a property at this price range. There are 6 bedrooms and 6.5 baths in nearly 6,800 square feet of living space, an attached four-car garage, stainless kitchen appliances, and a relatively large .64-acre lot with a grassy lawn and BBQ center. The house is safely tucked away in a guard-gated community, and Star — a self-admitted security freak who employs two full-time bodyguards — additionally upgraded the estate with a sophisticated security system that includes multiple cameras, laser beams, and alarms.

The property notably lacks a swimming pool, a somewhat unfortunate omission for a mansion located in extra-hot Calabasas, where the summer temps can easily soar past 110 degrees. There is, however, plenty of backyard space for the next owner to install such an amenity, should it be desired.

Star, 34, first came to public attention in his late teens as a MySpace celebrity. The Huntington Beach, Calif. native used social media to promote his music, eventually touring the country to support the release of his 2009 album “Beauty Killer,” which included a duet with Nicki Minaj.

Several years ago, with his music career flatlined, Star funneled his savings into launching Jeffree Star Cosmetics, which became an overnight sensation and today generates more than $100 million in annual revenue, according to Star. Star is also a co-owner of Killer Merch LLC, the Chatsworth, Calif.-based apparel juggernaut that manufactures and distributes merch for a number of other YouTubers and social media influencers.

Star and his entourage of assistants, bodyguards, wig groomers, and six Pomeranians have moved to the guard-gated celebrity enclave of Hidden Hills, where last December he famously shelled out $14.6 million for one of the neighborhood’s most unabashedly opulent megamansions.

Marc & Sara Shevin of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices hold the listing.
